The Shipping Supervisor reports to the Director of Operations/Warehouse Manager, and is located in Omaha, NE.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Supervisor works together with the director of operations/warehouse manager to plan, direct, or coordinates transportation, storage, and distribution activities at our warehouse locations in accordance with organizational policies and applicable government laws or regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Highschool Diploma
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in business management, Logistics or another relevant field preferred
- 2+ years warehouse distribution management experience
- Foodservice industry experience preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily supervise warehouse employees, material handlers, shippers, delivery drivers, and/or receivers. Supervise all aspects of shipping and receiving.
- Supervise inventory accuracy
- Perform and maintain records for all employee training, including forklift, safe operating procedures, productivity and accuracy
- Execute all safety initiatives including safety committee, forklift safety, safe lifting, and HAZMAT
- Supervise all distribution and logistics, including UPS, Truck load and LTL, TriMark and contracted delivery
- Ensure warehouse policies and procedures followed consistent with the employee handbook
- Maintain warehouse facilities to the highest level of cleanliness and organization
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Maintain accurate inventory including consistent cycle counting
- Maintain and manage warehouse facilities’ security
- Be the main liaison between purchasing, sales, customer service, and accounting to resolve issues and foster good ongoing lines of communication
- Commit to continuous improvement of all warehouse operations
- Develop leads in all functional areas if applicable (as backup to supervisor)
- Ensure cross training of personnel on regular basis
- Perform performance reviews of all warehouse employees
- Commit to working with Human Resources to become proficient in the legal aspects of supervising company employees
- Ability to master computer applications used by company and use computer applications to fullest extent including ability to extract data and reporting from said systems
- Develop metrics with director of operations/warehouse manager to measure department efficiency and productivity and publish on monthly basis. Some metrics should be by department, some by entire operation, and some by individuals
- Identify sales or purchasing oriented issues and bring to attention of director of operations/warehouse manager
- Promote good morale and exhibit positive can-do attitude
- Work with director of operations/warehouse manager on all hiring and termination of personnel as well as timely disciplinary action if needed
- Assist in new hire training program as requested
- Other duties as assigned
COMPETENCIES:
- Must be able to operate sit down forklift, reach truck, and order picker
- Must be able to operate a box truck
- Must be capable of using Microsoft Office software, specifically Outlook and Excel
- Proven success as a leader and team builder while motivating and directing staff
- Must be able to pass clean driving record check, and able to be insured for delivery vehicles
- Read and write English
- Availability to work varying shifts as circumstances require. Including weekends as needed with the team to ensure projects and orders are kept up to date
- Must be able to demonstrate prior experience with warehouse systems and scanning technology preferably in a distribution environment
- Must have prior experience in shipping and receiving functions
- Must have prior experience using ERP system (e.g., Order Entry, Inventory, etc.)
- Working knowledge of AS400 system
- Working knowledge of Auto-Quotes system
