Techead is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Solutions Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team. As a Solutions Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our customers by providing technical expertise and support throughout the pre-sales process. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Kubernetes, networking, identity management, cloud services, and related technologies.

Must-Have Experience:

1. Kubernetes:

   • 2+ years of experience managing Kubernetes environments.
   • Experience in roles such as platform engineer, SRE, consultant, or technical sales engineer.

2. Pre-sales Experience:

   • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pre-sales or a combination of pre-and post-sales roles.
   • Strong customer-facing skills.

3. Networking:

   • Ability to explain the OSI model, and differentiate between SDN and traditional hardware-based network technologies.
   • Understanding of cloud load balancing and its importance in microservices-based architecture.

4. Identity Management:

   • Understanding of the importance of identity for both user-based authentication/authorization and service-based identity.

5. Cloud Vendor Experience:

   • Experience deploying clusters and workloads across multiple cloud vendors such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Red Hat OpenShift.

6. GitOps:

   • Experience with cloud-native CI/CD pipeline tooling such as Argo, Flux, CircleCI, Gitlab, etc.

Nice to Have:

1. OIDC/OAuth:

   • Ability to explain how these technologies are utilized for API gateways.

2. Istio:

   • Experience in a production environment or consulting/pre-sales engagement.
   • Contributions upstream or public speaking/blogs on the subject are a plus.

3. Envoy:

   • Experience in a production environment or consulting/pre-sales engagement.
   • Contributions upstream or public speaking/blogs on the subject are a plus.

4. Cloud-based API Gateway:

   • Experience with competitive gateway plays such as Ambassador, Kong, Tyk, Nginx.
   • Utilization of advanced API gateway capabilities.

5. Cloud Vendor API Gateway:

   • Background with Apigee, AWS API Gateway, and others.

6. Alternative Meshes:

   • Familiarity with AspenMesh, Linkerd, Tetrate, Kuma, and others.

7. On-prem Load Balancers:

   • Experience with F5, BigIP, AVI.

8. On-prem Networking Equipment:

   • Knowledge of operating and maintaining equipment from vendors such as Palo Alto, Cisco, Juniper, Ubiquiti, among others.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
