*Position Summary:*
The Vascular Surgery Navigator, under direction of the supervising Physician is responsible for maintaining the surgical procedure schedule of the supervising Physician(s). This role combines detail-oriented surgery scheduling with exceptional patient service. This role will support our patients through the entire surgical scheduling process from verification of insurance authorization, patient outreach, education and continuance of post-surgical care. The goal of the incumbent is to ensure a seamless and comforting experience for patients.
*Essential Functions:*
Responsible for following the directive of providers for coordination of surgical procedures testing, and follow-up.
Coordinates patient, surgeon, and hospital schedules.
Contacts insurance carriers to verify benefits, requests and secures necessary authorizations.
Arranges Peer to Peer Physician Meetings when necessary due to procedural insurance denial.
Establishes relationships with and serves as a point of contact for patients.
Provides clear concise and relevant information to patients throughout the surgical scheduling process including ensuring appropriate postoperative care is scheduled and communicated to the patient.
Documents all communication with providers and patients ensuring an accurate account of patients care.
Arranges patient’s procedures and treatments including, advanced imaging, injections / procedures, physical & occupational therapy orders, history & physicals, and medical devices.
Educates patients and answer questions regarding imaging, procedures, and surgeries. Informs patient of surgical and financial preoperative requirements.
Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
Maintains the Surgeons Schedule to ensure the upmost efficiency
Functions as the Surgeons most entrusted team member to ensure the surgeon’s surgical schedule is filled as efficiently as possible and also to ensure the highest quality of care and compassion are provided to patients throughout the surgical experience of the patient.
Assists surgeon with surgeon with surgical procedures within the Inpatient and Outpatient Surgical Suites as well as the Cardiac Cath Laboratory.
Reports to: Physicians Services Director
*Minimum Education*
Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology or nursing degree required.
*Required Skills*
a. Significant working knowledge of computers, telephones, copy and fax machines.
b. ECW and Meditech experience preferred or another form of Electronic Medical Records
c. Must adhere to policies, procedures and regulations as outlined in the clinic Policy and Procedure Manual. Must possess a high degree of accuracy for the performance of job-related tasks and functions.
d. Healthcare background including medical terminology, general knowledge of the operation and administration of Vascular Surgery required.
*Required Skills*
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) – to be obtained within 30 days
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – to be obtained within 6 months
*Required Skills*
ARRT registered with WV licensure or WV RN or LPN license.
*Minimum Work Experience*
At least 5 years’ experience working directly with patient care
