**Description**
**THE ROLE**
The Vice President Sales is responsible for all commercial new sales, activities pertaining to all of PHP’s employer segments; Small Group, Large Group, Association Health Plans, Administrative Services Only. These segments include small and large group insured plans and self-insured plans (ASO). The VP will represent PHP to external audiences, including producers and consultants, as well as employers. The VP also has accountability for producer relationships, employer relationships and community and business leaders.
MAJOR CHALLENGES:
1. Achieving annual plan and budget new sales targets by line of business.
2. Developing an effective sales pipeline process, including detailed stage management.
3. Partnering cross functionally to support an effective and accurate enrollment projection process.
4. Developing new sales staff with consultative selling skills and business acumen.
5. Keeping sales staff fully trained on Commercial product lines.
6. Building a positive team sales environment in a highly competitive environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ New sales of employer groups small, large, insured and self-insured.
+ Leadership of multiple client teams in various geographies. These teams are comprised of account executives, account managers and support staff.
+ Establishes group sales performance standards and is accountable for maintenance and improvement of those performance standards.
+ Provides ongoing competitive intelligence, including products, rates, strategies and other relevant competitor product/service activities.
+ Provides product sales and industry related training programs for sales and service staff.
+ Monitors market perceptions of health care products and services and regularly reports to Chief Sales and Marketing Officer on product needs for future development efforts.
+ Works collaboratively with senior management of Providence Health & Services to develop complementary marketing and sales strategies/legislative activities.
+ Accountable for developing and managing sales and annual labor and maintenance expense budgets.
+ Keeps current on local, regional, and national health insurance and managed care trends, with an emphasis on the payer markets.
**IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor’s Degree; or equivalent educ/experience
+ Master’s Degree in Business Administration or relevant post graduate degree (preferred)
+ 10 or more years of sales, account management experience
+ 10 or more years of leadership, managerial, supervisory experience (preferred)
+ 7 years of established and positive team leader with sales management experience
+ 5 years of health insurance industry experience
+ Verifiable sales success using a consultative sales approach
+ Excellent interpersonal, communications, listening, and presentations skills
+ Solid working knowledge of strategic planning, execution of strategy, budgeting, business development and sales
+ Demonstrated solid leadership qualities and organizational skills
+ Ability to generate trust and respect from staff, internal and external constituencies
+ Ability to work effectively with individuals at varying levels of the organization with a demonstrated ability to create, build, and maintain relationships
+ Superior communication skills – listening, written, and verbal
+ Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task and to deliver results within short timeframes
+ Exceptional strategic selling skills including prospecting, presentation and closing
+ Knowledge of the health insurance market.
